Vintage-style wooden beds

Nods to the design of past decades, particularly the 1950s through the 1970s: tapered or slanted legs, distinctive headboards, and vintage-style handles and details. This isn’t antique furniture but rather contemporary design with a nod to the past, and the solid wood construction gives it the sturdiness that many original pieces from that era have since lost. We place this style within the context of vintage-style furniture. All our wood is FSC-certified solid oak, manufactured in Europe.

It works in two ways: as a cohesive look, with retro textiles, vintage lamps, and a color palette of mustard, bottle green, or terracotta; or as a contrast, as a piece with history in a modern bedroom with light-colored walls. The second approach tends to stand the test of time better: the vintage bed stands out more the less it competes with the rest of the room.

Maintenance applies to all styles: a well-wrung damp cloth, an annual application of natural oil, and tightening the hardware. If your model has turned details or tapered legs, take a moment to pay special attention to them when applying the oil: embossed shapes collect more dust and benefit from a wipe-down in every crease.
