Frequently asked questions about solid wood bedside tables
What height should the bedside table be?
The surface of the bedside table should be level with the mattress or up to 5 cm higher: with modern mattresses, this means a useful height of between 50 and 60 cm. Any lower, and you'll be fumbled for your glass; any higher, and your elbow will complain. Measure your assembled bed before choosing, not just the frame. We explain the different sizes and styles in our guide on how to choose bedside tables .
Side table with a drawer, with a shelf, or both?
The combination of drawer and open shelf is the most efficient: the drawer hides small items that clutter things up—chargers, glasses, medicine—while the open shelf holds your current books. If you prefer a minimalist bedside table, a single drawer is enough; if you read serially, prioritize the open shelf. Made of solid wood, any format will last for decades. We manufacture in Europe using FSC-certified solid oak.
How do you maintain an oak bedside table?
It's a piece of furniture that gets daily contact: a weekly wipe with a damp, wrung-out cloth on the surface, where glasses and cups leave rings if not dried promptly, and a coat of natural oil once or twice a year, with an extra coat around the handle. A fixed coaster on the side table is the best protection against marks.
Which bed goes well with wooden bedside tables?
Oak calls to oak: bedside tables and a bed in the same material and tone create the tidy sleeping area that every bedroom appreciates. The solid wood beds in our collection share the same finish as these bedside tables, allowing you to assemble the set seamlessly.
Do the small tables have to be two and identical?
Symmetry is helpful but not a hard and fast rule: in double beds with two users who have different habits, different bedside tables of the same height work wonderfully. What is advisable to match is the material. And if one side needs more storage, a small wooden chest of drawers can serve as a large bedside table on that side.
